Killer Flu Stalks Mass.

It seems the Boston Herald is a good place to go if you want to be (even more) alarmed and panicky.

As if my mind could get any less focused on my work right now, my mom emails me and tells me the swine flu has hit Massachusetts, which is where I live.  I, of course, was aware of this yesterday, when it was reported there were 2 suspected cases in Lowell, MA.  My mother’s suggestions, hand washing etc. etc. also include “refraining from going to bars.”  As anxious as I am, I imagine I will not be taking that suggestion too seriously yet.  She helpfully ends her email with “Above all, don’t panic!” HA! I’ll have to work on that one.

Of course, I checked the news again before posting, and the flu has now hit Maine as well.
